Kari has been practicing for over 19 years in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine practices. She opened Accelerated Physical Therapy in February of 2007. Kari received a Master of Science Degree in Kinesiology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and a Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. Kari is a Maitland Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) and is a proud member of the American Physical Therapy Association. She is also certified by the Titleist Performance Institute as a Level 2 Medical Professional.
Kari has treated a wide variety of orthopedic injuries, worked with patients of all ages and has even worked with professional athletes. She is one of a few therapists in the area with the knowledge and training to work with a variety of cartilage repair techniques including ACI (Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation or Carticel), microfracture, DeNovo NT and OATS (Osteochondral Allograft Transfer System).
Kari A. Dixon
Rachael is a native of Northern Virginia and has been a practicing Physical Therapist in the outpatient orthopedic setting since 2015. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Virginia (Go Hoos!) in Charlottesville, VA and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Marymount University in Arlington, VA.
Before joining Active Body, Rachael has worked at PT practices in Washington D.C. and Alexandria, VA where she treated a wide range of non-traumatic and post-operative injuries, especially involving the shoulder, knee and ankle. Rachael’s treatment approach includes a combination of functional exercise and manual techniques that allow patients to improve their mobility and function. She has completed coursework through MyoPain Seminars to become certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling.
When she is not treating patients, Rachael is busy keeping up with her two young kids and husband.
Aafke has been a practicing Physical Therapist since 2014, after earning her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from The University of Texas at El Paso. Prior to becoming a Physical Therapist, Aafke worked for two years as an Athletic Trainer after completing her Bachelor of Science degree from Lynchburg College (currently the University of Lynchburg).
While moving with the military, Aafke has worked with a wide variety of patients including those with orthopedic, geriatric, and neurological conditions. With her experience, she has picked up different skills and treatment techniques utilized around the country. She is certified in Dry Needling through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy.
When she is not working, Aafke enjoys training for runs of various distances (5k to marathons), though currently she is spending her time running after her two young boys.
